The first Tacoma Day was founded in 1911 to care for 10 children of working mothers. Since that time it has been expanded to its present capacity of 72, and a preschool program has been incorporated into our daily routine. Tacoma Day is housed in a building designed for its present use. It has three large, cheery classrooms, a spacious outdoor playground and play deck, and modern equipment for the children’s use. Funds for the present building came from gifts and bequests from interested individuals. Nationally Accredited Program Tacoma Day is proud to be a nationally recognized accredited program through the National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC administers the largest national voluntary professionally sponsored accreditation system and is the largest organization of childhood educators. TACOMA DAY |
